Machine learning researcher and founding engineer
I pair rigorous machine learning and applied-mathematics research with end-to-end engineering ownership: mathematical models, data pipelines, APIs, web applications, cloud infrastructure, and the deployment and observability that keep them running.
I'm Darian, a computer scientist based in Ithaca, NY. I earned my Ph.D. in Computer Science at Cornell, defended in July 2026 with the degree conferred in August 2026. My dissertation, Practical Algorithms for Multi-Step Lookahead Bayesian Optimization, makes non-myopic Bayesian optimization computationally practical. Along the way I did research at LinkedIn, AMD, IBM, and Adobe, and I'm a named inventor on US patent application 2025/0005236 A1.
Since October 2025 I have been founding engineer (contract) at ArcScore AI, where I architected and built the production platform end to end and designed the core scoring and NIL-valuation methodology with two other modeling leads. I'm open to full-time research, ML systems, and senior engineering roles, and I take selective consulting work through darian.ai.
